Together we have the purchasing power necessary to send a clear message about the communities we want to live in and our shared vision for the future.

Ethical Consumer came into being due to decisions I was making in my own life. I wanted to make some changes; I was looking for local, ethical companies that produced shoes, clothes, food, and cosmetics...things we buy on a regular basis and tend not to think twice about. But then I started thinking. Never again did I want to buy shoes that were made by a child or think a family didn't earning a living wage so I could get a good deal. I started working with more and more social entrepreneurs in my own business, each with a vision to create a business that could support them and their families while contributing to the world. I was inspired and wanted to see them succeed. And I needed to shop somewhere! At times, it was a huge undertaking to gather the information I needed in order to make informed decisions and then find local companies that aligned with my values. Once I had done some of the legwork, I needed to share it. I wanted to help connect values-based businesses with consumers who felt the same way I did about being a responsible, ethical consumer.
